Licia Lukach- Instructor
I graduated from Minot State University, Minot, ND with a double major in Special Education and Elementary Education. I began my teaching career in Cedar Rapids Iowa where I taught for 3 years before moving to Illinois. I have taught for over 25 years in Special Education with the main focus of my teaching career being at the Junior and Senior High level. I also have 28 years of life experience, which I have had the honor of being a parent of a child with significant multiple impairments. My family consists of my wonderful husband of 35 years Greg, who is a Mechanical Engineer at Clinton Power Station; Kaycee (daughter) who is an amazing Speech Pathologist in Decatur; Griffin who is a Civil Engineer for Decatur and the best son-in-law and Noah (son) who is awesome and attends a Day Program at DSC. I cannot imagine doing any other career than teaching Special Education!
Support Staff
The ATLAS Program is very fortunate to have not only an excellent student/teacher ratio but also a staff of highly experienced, thoughtful, and creative individuals. Our TAs are the "front line" of the program and on any given day can wear any number of different hats, dependent on the needs of the students at the home site, in the community, and in their respective vocational placement. These staff members are knowledgeable on the variety of needs of our students, instructional strategies that are developmentally appropriate, and push our students to their fullest level of independence and accessibility to the world around them.
